Dear friends and family -
This year I have the opportunity to participate in the AIDS LifeCycle - the ride to end AIDS. There are many reasons I am taking on this challenge of riding my bicycle 585 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles. The primary reason is to be able to take my passion for cycling and do something positive with it. I hope to raise a substantial amount of money for a very important cause. There are millions of people living with HIV and AIDS, who suffer and struggle on a daily basis. The AIDS LifeCycle raises money to help provide treatment and services to people living with HIV and AIDS, and to prevent the spread of HIV. I have been personally affected by the AIDS pandemic - I have friends who are living with AIDS, and I have lost dear friends from AIDS. I will be riding in memory of my friend Gary Moncayo - a very special man, who taught me a lot about keeping your spirit intact while suffering physically and emotionally from the devastating effects of AIDS. Gary managed to have a wild ride, rocking out at Grateful Dead shows with the people he loved, till the very end of his short life.
My personal commitment is to raise $5,000 to help fund AIDS services. I am hoping that you will help me reach that goal. The money you give goes directly to the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. Your support will help ensure that those who need services and treatment will have access. Your help will literally save lives.
I will be training from now until June 4 to be able to do this 585 mile bike ride. This is a huge commitment of my time and energy. I am asking you to join me in this commitment by donating $60 t0 $100 (or whatever you can afford) to AIDS/LifeCycle. You can make your payment online at www.AIDSLifeCycle.org, or you can mail a check to:
AIDS/LifeCycle

POB 60000
San Francisco CA 94160
Please include my participant number (Marc Kuser, #1410) with your contribution. THE DEADLINE FOR PAYMENT IS MAY 19, 2006.
This is one of the biggest challenges I have ever taken on in my life, but it is very important to me to put an end to this crippling disease. I hope you will join me with your generous support, both financially and emotionally.
Thank you, gratefully -
Marc A. Kuser

Dear Marc,

You ARE an angel! :tinker:I won't be sending a donation. But, I'll park your bike and give you a big hug every day of the ride. I too have lost many friends to the AIDS pandemic. I'm going on the ride as a Roadie to honor their memories and to express my gratitude to the activists who continue to fight this disease. Look me up during the ride.... have you met the other riders from Santa Rosa/West County?

Janisis
Roadie #8732

P.S. Marc is not telling you about the significant out of pocket expenses he himself will be covering in order to participate in this ride. Please be generous. It cost riders and roadies a chunk of change to arrange transportation to and from the event, hotels and meals before the event and then the cost intailed in months and months of training. Riding 585 miles is a devotion of love and hard work. Raising funds makes it so much more rewarding. Thanks, J
