Hello,

Where have you been when it comes to the full cost of our military misadventures in the Middle East? Silent?

I don't mean just how much of our tax dollars are not available for climate protection because of the theft, squander, and abuse of these funds going to unconstitutional war. (Please see today's Press Democrat for supporting evidence.)

Have you used your calculations and lobby power to demonstrate how much of a carbon surge would be created with a surge of 30,000 troops? How many carbon credits would it take to offset that??? How would we fund it?

Is your silence due to the fear that you won't be supported if you speak out on this?

It is way past time you took the lead on this issue; this IS the tipping point.

Speak the truth to those in charge, and your friends, family, associates, followers and funders.

Our inheritable future is counting on it.

In peace,

Colleen Fernald

UPDATE: The House debated and voted on the War Escalationfunding today. This info via David Swanson's Live Blog of the action in the House:
11:18 Voice vote. Chair claims 2/3 voted Yes. Obey asks for Yeahs and Nays.
11:19 Vote will be recorded later -- presumably after 2 p.m. You have a few hours in which to CALL CONGRESS AND DEMAND NO VOTES! 1-888-493-5443.

Two important war votes this week
Last Saturday, Rep. Dennis Kucinich made the first public announcement about his privileged resolution to remove US forces from Pakistan byDecember 31, 2010, at PDA's Grassroots Leadership Conference in Cleveland. After speaking to the more than 125 PDA members, Representative Kucinichspoke with Tim Carpenter in an informal interview.

The House is expected to debate and vote on this privileged resolution—HCR 301—tomorrow, (Tuesday, July 27). Call your representative and ask for a YES vote.

Use FCNL's toll-free number to call your representative: (888) 493-5443, or call the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121.

While you're on the phone, use this opportunity to tell your representative tovote NO on the up-or-down vote on the $33 billion supplemental bill to escalate the war in Afghanistan. The supplemental vote is also on the House calendar for this week.

The House will likely vote on the Senate version. If so, this would mean something unusual: a straightforward vote in which yes means “yes, more war,” and no means “no.”

From this vote, we will know who the war supporters and war opponents are. A “yes” vote means bird-dogging them while they're home for August and punishing them at the polls in November. A “no” vote should afford them a hearty and heartfelt “thank you.”

Tell them:
Vote NO on funding escalation in Afghanistan, no matter what else is in the bill.

Vote YES on HCR 301 to withdraw US troops from Pakistan.
Use the resources at War Is A Crime to see your representative's votes on the supplemental amendments and to add your comments to the whip list.

Call toll free: (888) 493-5443
Call the Capitol switchboard: (202) 224-3121.

Peace,
Tim Carpenter, National Director

Carbon Dioxide is the greatest fertilizer on this planet. More CO2 means plants use less water means the planet becomes more green.

Every time the planet warms, the CO2 also rises due to release from oceans and other traps. As a result, life flourishes on this planet.

"Carbon Offsets" are merely a scam to dupe the "useful idiots" into handing over their money. The perpetrators just want your money. That's all.

Al Gore is buying mansions with this filthy lucre.

"truth"guy, I think many of us understand your provocation is aimed to distract us. Nevertheless, I'll bite.GvsE

Too bad you completely missed the point; you have appear to have been drinking the kool-aid so long it has distorted your vision; can't see the truth or irony right in front of you. :havinabeer:

BTW - I do NOT support cap and trade. I DO have concerns about SOME of what Al Gore is promoting. AND...

Climate change IS both man-made AND a natural consequence from natural sources.

You really cannot expect natural sources to continue to absorb & cleanse our toxic messes being spewed decade after decade without severe consequences to the planet's ability to sustain the condition we humans require to support life as we know it.

Everyone, please google "weather modification". Then appologize to everyone you said was "crazy" for noticing the "chem trails".

Instead of just doing less of what DOES cause harm, we are futzing with it in ways we cannot control or understand. These consequences affect ALL of us.

:stormcloud:

The "kool-aid" is getting into our air, water and airwaves. Dumbed-downed folks don't have what it takes to rid our government of organized crime.

Nourish yourself with the truth, please!

I have no problem with cleaning up toxic messes. I just have no illusions that CO2 is to be included in that.

The greatest harm being done by these mansion-buying, money-grubbing apparatchiks is that they are distracting our population from genuine efforts to defend the Earth's environment while focusing on a scheme, orchestrated by Mikhail Gorbachev (look up "Green Cross International"), to suck up the wealth of the world in the same way he and his buddies sucked the USSR dry.

So, let's clearly delineate between CO2, a natural fertilizer that today's plants are starved for, as contrasted against real "toxic" stuff.

"Carbon Footprint" is a Neuro-linguistic Programming phrase.

It is true that the rate of plant growth will increase as carbon dioxide levels increases. It is also true that for every 10 degree centigrade rise in temperature the rate of metabolism (respiration and photosynthesis) will double, until you reach thermal death at about 75 degrees centigrade.

Unfortunately the types of organisms that will be doing this metabolism will not be the same as the temperature increases along this curve. We won’t be on the list and most of what we eat won’t be on the list.

Each molecule of carbon dioxide requires two atoms of oxygen that are drawn from our finite and rather thin atmosphere. When the carbon that we are now burning was formed in the carboniferous period, the earth’s atmosphere had far less oxygen than it contains today and more of that carbon dioxide.

That’s fine for fish, some birds, bacteria, fungi, invertebrates, but not for us. We like 21 percent oxygen and will die at about 19.5 percent oxygen. Try living in a world where there is less than 19.5 percent oxygen. That is just a 1.5 % reduction in the percent of oxygen we now take for granted.

It’s easy to experiment with this by going to high elevation where you will likely suffer altitude sickness or die. Yes, life will flourish under those changed conditions, but it will be different life and of course we will not be around to argue this point even though the chemistry and biology are easily demonstrated.

Are carbon credits a scam? Probably so! What would you do in place of carbon credits to motivate 5 billion greedy, stupid, hairless apes? Care for a banana anyone? Until someone comes up with a better scheme to reduce the consumption of our precious atmospheric oxygen, and stabilize our precious carbon dioxide buffer system, let’s use the tools at hand.

Greed and fear seem to be the ones that have the most profound effect over human history. Denial has it’s place but not when global threats affect everyone. We certainly have the technology today to capture the CO2 but the oxygen needs to be our long term concern. That means shifting away from burning and using other non-chemical sources of energy. I

was awarded United States Patent 7,658,851 Nelson, Rawson et al. February 9, that contains claims which are pertinent to carbon dioxide and methane sequestration technology. I reveal this as a disclaimer since I might be eligible to receive some of those carbon credits, so please check the facts yourself. That’s the beauty of pure science, it is the closest thing we ca get to the truth.

Cheers,
Bob Rawson

It is true that the rate of plant growth will increase as carbon dioxide levels increases. It is also true that for every 10 degree centigrade rise in temperature the rate of metabolism (respiration and photosynthesis) will double, until you reach thermal death at about 75 degrees centigrade. An irrelevant juxtaposition of statements. There is a temperature at which plants die. So what?

The Earth was several degrees warmer about 800 years back and it was a time of much greater crop yields, a time when the Vikings were better able to farm on Greenland... not a catastrophe at all. With today's higher CO2 levels, a return to those temperatures promises even greater benefits in food production and general plant growth.

Global Warming a Boon for Greenland's Farmers
Arctic Harvest: Global Warming a Boon for Greenland's Farmers - SPIEGEL ONLINE - News - International (https://www.spiegel.de/international/spiegel/0,1518,434356,00.html)

These natural warming and cooling cycles, also called "climate change", are the reason Manhattan Island is no longer under 1,000 feet of solid ice. It's also the reason many species of plants and animals are no longer found in what are now arid areas. Change is normal.

Unfortunately the types of organisms that will be doing this metabolism will not be the same as the temperature increases along this curve.Don't you mean if the temperature increases? Remember that as CO2 levels rose after WWII, the Earth went into a terrifying cooling spell, creating alarm about a coming Ice Age. We cannot drive or manipulate temperature - that's up to solar forcing.

We can reduce combustion. That's why I supported GW Bush's work to move our nation away from fossil fuels and into a Hydrogen-based energy economy. I was rather annoyed at Al Gore and the Democrat propaganda machine for shutting down that effort, instead driving funding into Corn Ethanol and other environmentally catastrophic "alternatives".

We had our chance to get off carbon-fuels and they screwed us big time.

Each molecule of carbon dioxide requires two atoms of oxygen that are drawn from our finite and rather thin atmosphere. You're talking about combustion. Sure. But consider...

Once upon a time there was no Oxygen in the atmosphere and lots of Carbon Dioxide. Then the plants started growing and using CO2 for food, just as they do today.

Plants turn CO2 into Oxygen that we breathe.

We like 21 percent oxygen and will die at about 19.5 percent oxygen. We don't die at 19.5%. There's some impairment but not death. Your point stands, though, too little oxygen is a bad thing. Let's consider though that the entire history of humanity since the industrial revolution has only been able to reduce the oxygen by 0.095%

What would you do in place of carbon credits to motivate 5 billion greedy, stupid, hairless apes?

What about the greedy, stupid apes crafting the carbon credit scam?

The problem is that the guys sucking up our wealth with the carbon credit scam are NOT interested in fixing the problem. They are shifting factories and production out of the United States into other nations to bring "balance", when those other nations have much worse pollution control laws resulting in more pollution to create the same products.

Let's not allow them to play these stupid games. No banana for them!

Scientifically speaking, there are a couple of approaches that can remedy the imbalance between excess CO2 produced by natural warming processes and combustion - and the plant life that sequesters it to release Oxygen:

1) Follow George Bush's plan to move our nation to a Hydrogen-electric energy economy

2) Plant and harvest trees and use the wood products, thereby sequestering lots of Carbon in a solid form. ( a forest that grows naturally releases as much CO2 as it absorbs) This provides useful raw materials and does not cost the taxpayer (apologies to folks trying to suck up the low-hanging cash in the carbon scam).

3) Reduce the human population
