Whats the best apple money can buy?
Hello. I assume you are asking me, as I am probably the only Brant on the board, but who are you?
The answer to your question about Apple's depends on the purpose of its end use. Mac Mini's are amazing for size and affordablity. $500-750 The new g5 imacs are straight out of the jetson's. $1500-2000 Powerbooks are just that, really powerful and flexible. 12' run used for ~$1000 And now they have built in video camera's for easy video conferencing.
I can't say enough about apple's and have been working with computers since my first commodore 64 in 3rd grade. Computers never made sense to me until I got my first apple. right brain vs. a left brain thing.
Oh, and now the intel chip even runs windows as a native platform, which quite simply means, Macintosh rules!! :Jedi:

From the Coop America's Responsible Shopper link...
Apple has revolutionized the way people think about portable music players and its computers are considered top of the line products. The company is recognized for some progressive moves, such as CEO Steve Jobs' decision to accept only $1 in compensation for 2004 and the choice to print materials on kenaf which is considered the most environmental fiber on the market today. Still, Apple strays far from the sustainable track by ignoring its responsibility to deal with the growing problem of e-waste. In particular, the company has come under fire for designing its iPod with a battery that is difficult to replace and then charging consumers high rates to take the batteries off their hands. The result is a large number of the toxic batteries ending up in landfills where they pose threats to human health. Apple has the clout to redefine industry standards for used computer collection and recycling and has already demonstrated such a capacity in Europe and Japan. Why is Apple failing to do better in the U.S.? Consumers should maintain pressure on Apple to be a real leader of corporate innovation and bear the waste burden of its own products.

Actually, I was asking about apples you eat, not the kind you plug in.
So...what is the best apple?

That was my initial response when reading your question and i doubted it in favor of the interpretation of all those techies out there! The other thing that came up for me was the idea that each apple has a best use, might suffice for another use but not be displayed to it's best advantage. kinda like humans. Off hand i like fuji's. When i was a kid,a while ago admittedly, i recall only macintosh, delicious and granny smith. many thanks to the apeeling folks who kept all the diversity alive! mindy

I'm still curious. Why were you asking ME about apples? New Zealand are my favorite by the way. Either that, or I once had a Japanese Apple/Pear that was amazing. Cheers. -B
