Hello Sebastopol,
Hope you had a wonderful and safe July 4th. I worked the gate and stamped hands at the Kiwanis Fireworks and was happy to see there were 6000 plus who came to the event! The proceeds will go to West County educational programs and our kids.
Please join Supervisor Efren Carrillo and me for the "Town Hall with the Neighborhoods" on Thursday, July 22, at the Sebastopol Library Forum Room, 7:00pm - 8:30pm. Join us for a lively discussion, and bring your questions, issues and ideas!
I have been working with the Main Street businesses to create some ideas that will improve the downtown appearance, and make the three blocks from Wilton Avenue to the Post Office more contiguous in appearance. We have come up with some great ideas which include lights in the trees, colorful banners in front of the stores, and sprucing up the benches. We hope to start seeing the changes by the fall.
You have probably been reading about the upcoming City Council election in November. There will be three seats up, and the candidate filing period opens Monday. Make sure you are registered to vote for the November 2 election.
The Neighborhood Representatives Group and Bike Walk Sebastopol are planning a second Pedestrians Issues Meeting in September. We will invite a Caltrans representative to do a Q & A with us. The result of our first meeting was the installation of a solar powered speed meter on Bodega Avenue at Burbank Heights! If you have any questions or issues, please come to the meeting and help us work on the city's pedestrian problems. The date is September 8, Wednesday, 7:00 - 8:30, also at the Sebastopol Library Forum Room.
I would like to clean up the rose garden in Ives Park. It needs the grass pulled, the bushes trimmed, and a couple of new rose bushes along with a ground cover around it. If you would like to help, please let me know.
The next Council meeting will be July 20. Hope you will attend.
See you around Sebastopol,
Kathleen
