Barry, in his role as super-hip SysOp, has changed the avatar policy here on WaccoBB, to allow larger-sized avatars. I think you have to be a contributing member to have avatars turned on - not sure about that. The old policy was that avatars could be no larger than 80X80 px and no larger than 18k in file size. One practically needed a loupe to see any details of the image.
Here's the new policy:
"Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 100 by 100 pixels or 195.3 KB (whichever is smaller). "
This is going to enable the creative types here to display a much wider variety of avatar images, and big enough so they can be seen clearly.
Thanks Barry!
ps. - I uploaded a test animated gif avatar from my machine. It uploaded OK, but when I hit the "save changes" button on the "edit avatar" screen, it said, "upload failed". But actually the upload succeeded, as you can see from the obnoxious avatar displayed with this post.
I've seen what most of the regular posters here have to say in words. Looking forward to see what they do with their avatars.
By the by - if you're interested in putting up a new avatar, but you might feel unsure about what you need to do, feel free to post questions here.
See you! (or at least your avatar representation of you)
