<!-- /GRAY BOX ARTICLE CONTENT--> He had gone against the Red Sox and it is every pitcher's dream to seize that moment, to beat mighty Boston. Lincecum certainly had the credentials — two consecutive Cy Young Awards, the consensus best pitcher in the bigs. And he stunk. He just stunk.
There is no polite way to put it. Sure, you could talk around the issue. You could say he missed his spots — his manager said that. Or you could say his mechanics were off — he said that.
Bad mechanics? Maybe he needs a new mechanic, someone who can change his oil and give him a new oil filter and rotate his tires and change his timing belt. But none of that technical doubletalk should concern you. In baseball it's good to be direct and simple. He stunk.
