I want to landscape/disguise a huge ugly black plastic water tank that is required on rural properties for emergency fire dept use. I know there are rules about vegetation, etc around them. Does anyone know what the code is? Links to online source of info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Lisa,
I don't believe there are any requirements about being able to see the tank. However, the connection to the tank should be visible and accessible by a fire engine. I have seen pipes run hundreds of feet from the tank, which is why I don't think it is critical. To confirm officially, call County Fire Services, 565-1152... they are nice people and won't bite.
