:hmmm:
Today is yet another burn day. Homeowners still burning their yard-waste rather than using their more environmentally-friendly green containers. I was wondering, besides torturing their neighbors, aren't these people driving away the bees? So many beautiful mornings have ended up ruined by this practice....

Sonoma County burn information line 707-565-BURN will tell you if it is a permissive burn day for Northern Sonoma County Air Pollution Control District.

if memory serves, homeowners can no longer burn their own yard waste and the trimmings must have been grown on the property.

They must have a burn permit.

Now, i think the homeowner burn permits are no longer in effect, even if they have one.

Burn barrels are no longer allowed.

Any burning being done now is Agricultural Burn permits, (orchards, clearing land for vineyards).

Once the Burn Ban goes into effect, don't know if it is a specific date, or when conditions warrant -- NO MORE BURNING IS ALLOWED. NONE.

You may be getting smoke from a nearby small agricultural operation.

The trimmings are to be dried for a specific period before being burned to minimize smoke production.

If you think it is being done by someone without a permit, call the authorities at 707-565-1700 and report it.

'tis better to burn under these conditions now, in a controlled manner, than to have out of control fire in mid or late summer!
