I have a twenty-year old cat. Last year, I finally let the vet clean her teeth. I had been so worried about her being anesthetized at her age. But guess what? It was the greatest thing for her. She still has probably used up 8 or her 9 lives (and I suspect she has Alzheimer's!) but with her poor dental hygiene, I think she was also easily picking up a lot of infections. As expensive as it was, the teeth cleaning probably saved more in subsequent vet bills.

A furry friend of mine lost her life due to an abscessed tooth because her owner didn't know to take the cat in to be checked when she stopped eating easily. Dental hygiene is important to our four legged friends' overall health just as it's important to ours. Good for you for taking her in!
