My recommendations for propositions::heart:
PROP.13. YES. People have to retrofit their homes, help them out a little.
PROP.14. NO. Don't let the ruling class eliminate your right to vote for the candidates of your choice. This anti-democratic measure will mean Democrats & Republicans only. Tweedledumb or Tweedlecrumb forever.
PROP.15. YES. Get big money out of politics. To some extent anyway.
PROP.16. NO. PG&E's attempt to destroy municipal power. Solar energy, not corporate profits!
PROP.17. NO. This isn't even an initiative, rather it's an attempt by insurance companies to drum up business -- & penalize those who don't qualify for the "discount" of regular rates.

Any recommendations for judicial or school superintendent?

Hello Richard

Thanks for your reply. For Superior Court #3 I'm voting for Chris Mazzia because Jamie Thistlethwaite's campaign literature scares me. For school supt., Gloria Romero was a decent state senator in Los Angeles so I'm voting for her. Maybe it's Jill Ravitch's campaign literature that scares me. & if you live in Santa Rosa, NO ON PROP. "D" ! It's a power grab by the Bd of Supes, to politicize civil service positions.

I found this info. from MoveOn.org to be very helpful:
Dear California MoveOn member,
For more information on other ballot measures, check out this handy ballot guide from our friends at the Courage Campaign and CREDO Action:

Yesterday, we asked you what position MoveOn should take on Propositions 15 and 16.
The results are in—nearly 90% of MoveOn members who voted agreed on the following endorsements:

Yes on Proposition 15, the California Fair Elections Act
No on Proposition 16, relating to public electricity providers

The election is this coming Tuesday, and it could be very close. Please forward this email along to 5 friends and let them know how you're voting.

Then, sign up to help with the campaigns' final get-out-the-vote efforts:

Prop. 15 (Fair Elections): https://www.yesonprop15.org (https://www.yesonprop15.org/)
Prop. 16 (PG&E power grab): Vote No on Prop 16 (https://noprop16.org/)

You can also help both campaigns by calling progressive voters through the Courage Campaign's online tool: Courage Campaign California | Call for California (https://www.moveon.org/r?r=88574&id=20902-17167574-jEOYNex&t=1)

Here's more context on the measures:

Prop. 15 repeals the ban on public financing of elections in California, allowing the expansion of clean money to limit the influence of corporate donations. David D. in Santa Monica said, "Prop. 15 is a targeted way to test clean money elections in California, it allows for a real-world study, and it's a modest yet crucial step forward." Christine M. in Sunnyvale said, "While I'd prefer a huge campaign to END *privately-financed* elections, this is a step in the right direction."

Prop. 16 was placed on the ballot primarily by the efforts of PG&E, Northern California's privately owned electric utility, and would require a 2/3rds vote to create public power districts or allow local governments to purchase their own renewable power. Chris Y. in Pasadena said, "Prop 16 is *not* about fairness, it's about locking the big electrical providers into certain markets. Follow the money on this one." Jean R. in Alameda called it "a shameless power grab by PG&E—don't support their bid for a monopoly on your electricity!"

Thanks for all you do, and don't forget to vote by Tuesday.
–-Adam, Wes, Joan, Anna, and the rest of the team
P.S. You may have seen that we forwarded an email yesterday from Chris Kelly, former Facebook executive and CA Attorney General candidate, critiquing Facebook's latest violations of user privacy, as part of our national campaign to protect online privacy. To be clear: MoveOn does not endorse any candidate in the Attorney General race. All MoveOn endorsements are made by a vote of the MoveOn membership. We're sorry if we caused any confusion.

Any recommendations for judicial or school superintendent?
Here are the judicial candidates endorsed locally by the Dems:

Nancy Case Shaeffer. She is unopposed

Pat Broderick. He is a great guy, Dean of Empire Law, running against two Republicans.

Jamie Thistlethwaite. A criminal defense lawyer who works very hard and is the type of lawyer that does not often get an opportunity to get on the bench.

It is worth noting that many of our judges are appointed by the Governor--yet another reason for a Democratic governor. Some were just appointed here in the last few months.
