thought occurred to me: what about just plunking a BOMB down there...probably doesn't have to be nuclear, just big enough to blast, the rocks resettling would probably clog the drill port.

however, this event would be entirely unpredictable and outcome could not be determined -- that's probably why it hasn't been tried.

anyone who has tried to repair a gushing water pipe - while water is actively flowing - probably knows this (plugging with stuff while the oil is coming out under pressure) pumping in concrete, heavy mud most likely won't work

Let's "pray" that it does work -- what a disaster !
