If you are a registered Democrat, please, vote in an important election that can make a difference to the direction of the local Democratic Party. You can vote on who represents you from the 5th district on the Sonoma County Democratic Central Committee, the governing body of the local Party.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I am running for re-election, along with a great West County “team” that has been working hard for you the past two years—Don Frank, Lynn Hamilton, Alice Chan, and Liz Basile.

My priorities have been to deepen and expand the connections between the base of the local Party and the Central Committee and to increase outreach from the Committee. I helped turnout the vote in precincts in 2008, helped get the newsletter launched, and worked to develop and implement the outreach plan. My focus has been to make the Central Committee more relevant to all parts of the community and not to any particular candidate or agenda. I would like to continue this work, as a strong grassroots base means a strong Democratic Party in the County.

As a member of Progressive Democrats, MoveOn, Organizing for <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />America, Take Back Red California and the State Party Progressive Caucus, I believe that a “popular front” type of movement is needed now more than ever to advocate and secure progressive goals. My heart has always been in direct organizing.

Our local 5th District “team” includes my alternate to the Central Committee and the Treasurer, Don Frank, who deserves to be elected to the Central Committee in his own right, based upon the countless hours of brilliant work for the committee and the dedication he brings to the job. In addition, he has worked to strengthen the party throughout the state by helping other county central committees to improve their accounting and reporting.

Lynn Hamilton, an incumbent with many years of service to the West County, holds the important post of Sonoma County’s representative to the Executive Board of the State Party. Alice Chan, also an incumbent, has been the chair and organizer of numerous important efforts undertaken by the Sonoma party in the last two years, including a review of the election count in 2008, and reviews of Central Committee by-laws and procedures. Liz Basile, incumbent, and first vice-chair of the Santa Rosa Democratic Club, who has also been organizing locally for years, has been tireless when it comes to outreach and rounds out our group.

We humbly ask for your vote so that we can continue steering the party in a constructive direction.

I have voted democrat my entire life, and I will never vote again. Ever.

I am utterly and completely disgusted with the party. Pelosi and Obama are traitors, facilitating the economic rape of our once prosperous nation, while waging unending illegal wars.

At least the GOP doesn't pretend not to be corporate whores.

There is NO significant difference between the two parties now, Obama's policies are identical to Bush's in every meaningful respect.

I know, I know, people will say not to abandon local politics, but the fact is, local politics support and maintain this despicable charade.
