I am a new Hot Tub owner of a Coleman Hot Tub and am just getting our deck and electric set up for the hot tub. I want to use natural alternatives to chlorine shock and chemicals to keep the Tub well maintained. I am wondering if anyone has experience with this and would like to share what they have found has worked well for them.

Thanks,

Adam

We purchased a hot tub 8 years ago and we found that using a nature2 cartrige and an inline ozone gas injector helped somewhat, but were not enough to keep the bacteria that causes 'Hot Tub Itch' from occasionally growing and causing a rash on people with sensitive skin. This rash can look like large bug bites all over the body or from the waist down... Not Fun! (also not mentioned by the salespeople at the hot tub store)
ozone is supposed to kill the bacteria, and the nature2 is silver and zinc which is supposed to kill bacteria also, but they both say to use a sanitizer along with them. They work for some people without using a sanitizer.
We now use a bit of chlorine and shock just to make sure and have no problem and enjoy the hot tub very much.
Good Luck

I heard the other day that you can use hydrogen peroxide. I don't have a hot tub, so I'm not sure how you do it exactly. But it would be worth looking up, because chlorine displaces iodine in the body, and can make you iodine-deficient over time.
