My landlady called me to say the PG&E was being shut off all day on Monday, and her guess was for SmartMeter installation. Does anyone know if they've halted progress in light of the community uproar? Isn't Sebastopol and Occidental demanding a moratorium? If anyone can shed some light that'd be helpful.

I gathered from the public hearing that it would be good to gather the neighbors on my street together to be unified against the Smart Meters, but a week isn't enough time!!

Tonight I spoke to a friend in SF who was excited about the Smart Meters, because she could go online and see how much power she is using. Is this actually helpful? Our bill hasn't been accurate for six months and PG&E has done nothing at all about it. Its hard to explain a bill doubling when no appliance or usage has changed in years. PG&E was absolutely no help investigating the issue, saying "Oh well". I wonder how anything will be different with their customer service with SmartMeters.

OK, false alarm. Our neighbor informed us its a power pole. Anyhow, we're trying to figure out how to say no to PG&E. My landlady doesn't seem to think she can just say no thanks. I wish we could get on a smaller local company power grid and off PG&E!! Especially given the unexplained bill hike and they won't even investigate!!
