Dear people, I know there must be someone looking for this group of gorgeous birds. I think they came in from the west - maybe Freestone?
I live at the top of Furlong Road near Occidental Road. Sunday a full grown magnificent peacock came to visit my small, quiet, young flock of four hens and one year old male. Jr. ended up fighting with the new male, and now he is over on an extension of Cherry Ridge Road which is behind me. My good neighbor there is keeping an eye on him (and a small group of local turkeys who live nearby. )
. There would not be a problem looming for the peafowl (and now the turkeys) if it were not for the fact that I have a crazy compulsive animal killer for my neighbor. He shot my large male (who was not loud or rude or intrusive because he didn't have mate or food issues) last year when he was chased out of the pasture by a dog and went astray. Peaks was trying to find his way back home when my neighbor stepped out and blew him away, then buried him and lied about it. However, a family member had heard it all. So now we know what might happen should the gypsy and his following - an additional three females and a young male just showed up Monday, remain here. We had hoped they might continue to wander to more open space to the south and away from the killer.
I think they are looking for food. They are tame and nettable. So if they belong with you, please call me. 823-0974. We will do our best to help you get them back home. Thanks. Bev
