Had the pleasure of a visit from a mature adult Bald Eagle this morning while at the Laguna de Santa Rosa near the confluence of Santa Rosa Creek. Soared overhead for about 10 minutes. Photo below is from this morning.

The Laguna has a few of the trees they seem to enjoy (the ones devoid of leaves). There is a gleaming mallard male on my pond now, cruisin' round relishing the day; his mate must be in the rough on eggs (that's what i'm hoping), this is becoming a yearly visit!

The other day driving to Santa Rosa, east of Stony Point on 9th (a route i rarely take). Approached area around tall trees (eucs, if memory serves) fenced off by orange plastic warning fences. Saw white flutter of wings, anticipated a dove, perhaps? No, it was an egret, or two or three, apparently they use the area for nesting and the kind souls of Santa Rosa municipality must have fenced it off to protect them -- took out of service an entire lane of road! Hoo-ray!!

Thank you for sharing. I saw a bald eagle about 10 years ago at Lake Sonoma. It was one of those experiences where I stood, mouth agape! I would love to see another. Thank you!
