If someone put a gun to my head and demanded that I choose, or else, between my love for Mark Fiore's animations and Mark Morford's columns at SFGate, I'd still have a hard time choosing!

And Mr. Dan reminds me of a certain style of poster here on waccobb. Plus I like how he sort of sounds like Charlton Heston.

I have my candidates for "The Wacco Most like Mr. Dan". Anybody up for nominations? We could do a poll!

I nominate "busyb555," "LenInSebastopol," and "someguy" as WaccoBB subscribers who best fit the character of "Dan" in the caricature. (All of whom I have on my ignore list.)

Hey Edward/VO,

We're definitely in the same ballpark on the Mr. Dan tip.

Due to a private exchange last night I counted and I have sixteen waccies on my "ignore" list! I'd love to know how many people "ignore" me, and who they are, but I'm not sure how to ask...

Because of your broadside against religion late this morning or early this afternoon?, and the reply from someone I respect saying they were putting you on their ignore list, was censored, by you? Barry? Mutual agreement? I missed my chance to weigh in. Now I have it.

Edward, as I've told you via text here before, you're a rhetorical bomb thrower. But even if some of your attempts at provocation fall flat, (and others go off with spectacular results!), what I like about you, and as a result consider you a friend and ally, is that you throw your bombs in the "right" direction and mostly at very appropriate targets.

So don't go changing for me.

A Lutta Continua,

"Mad" Miles

Wow, Dogboy was so polite, and actually had an intelligent response to what Dan said. Imagine that, actually having a conversation with someone intelligent who responds in a thoughtful manner and doesn't make up lies over and over again about Dan's presumed personality. And the lack of attacks on Dogboy's side was impressive. Can't say that you see much of that nowadays.

I guess you two love birds have yet to find a similar animated character that would best fit your personality. And I love how I can say whatever I want to you two since Im being ignored (well not really ignored... only told that Im being ignored. Since I guarantee you both will read this post even if you won't admit it). Hehe. But back to your animated persona's..... I designate VO to be like Cartmen from South Park, and MM to be like Narcissus from Greek mythology except not as beautiful. Again, I love that you both are ignoring this message. Ta ta.

-Someguy aka: Dan's better half.

I so hate to disappoint you "someguy" but you're not on my ignore list. Here's what I wrote privately about you to another waccie who suggested I put someone else on my "il".

Thanks for the suggestion,

I've certainly considered it. My current ignore list has quite a few people already on it. I think around twelve names.

(When I counted today I realized it is sixteen, most of whom are no longer active on waccobb.net.)

Both .... and someguy have almost made it on quite a few times over the last few months. But I've kept them off because once in a rare while they actually make a contribution to the discussion.

It takes consistent, tenacious asshole behavior to get ignored by me.

And I must confess, I'm so curious I end up opening some posts from my "ignored", especially when they're participating in a discussion I'm interested in. Usually they confirm their place on my list, but once and a while, they'll surprise me and say something that isn't complete bullshit.

I'm not saying they write things I agree with, that's rare, but they do occasionally make a sincere contribution that isn't totally steeped in venomous buttheadedness!

Cheers,

So now you know.

Try and provoke me all you want. I'm a champion and veteran of the adolescent gross out game. I was "doing the dozens" long before I learned the term. I spent a couple of decades debating shithead Leninists. I've read more difficult and abstruse Philosophy than you have ever dreamed of. I read the daily paper cover to cover, although it's mostly skimming nowadays as I'm already up on most of the stories.

I'm the ignorant one?

Keep trying my little puppy. Anyone who uses a British Court Judge's decision (Temperature drives CO2 not vice versa, It's gotta be true! An English Magistrate has ruled!!!) as their trump card in a debate about science? Well, I rest my case in this court of public opinion.

Because I agree with the restrictions on expression here on waccobb.net for the sake of civility, I have restrained myself in response to you and a few others like you. And who really has the time to waste? But I assure you, if you ever really want to try and match me in the art of devastating and humiliating retort, the kind that leaves ones opponent spluttering for something to add, but unable to do so? I am your man. Been there, done that, it really is so simple, so very, very simple, even a child can do it. Or at least only a child wants to do it!

I've been thinking about this issue for a day or so, because of my responses to "justme".

Because the art of insult and clever derision really is an art. And we only get to touch the edges of it here in waccoville. Perhaps a new category - Devastating Putdowns & Insults that nobody could ever recover from - a subset of Censored and UnCensored, needs to be instituted?

Nah, I'd rather write about movies and politics, whenever I can get back to it while swatting at gnats.

And thanks for the comparison to Narcissus, even with the qualification. Did you read recently about how Christopher Lasch's, The Age of Narcissism, is under discussion once again, and that modern psychiatrists consensus (Ooh, you don't like that word, do you?) is that narcissism is not the pathology that it was made out to be by critics like Lasch? In fact they agree that a moderate amount of narcissism is integral to a healthy psychological state.

So, thanks for the backhanded compliment, one that was completely unintentional, I'm sure.

One could say that it takes a narcissist to think that narcissism is a healthy psychological state. Just check yourself out... How many of your sentences are all about you and how much smarter you are and more intellectually arrogant than everyone else?

Hey if you got some spare time, learn about yourself. Check out the enneagram, type 3 to be exact. Find out how healthy your narcissistic behavior really is.
