Self-Reliant Communities
Since environmental and economic issues are often overwhelming, finding practical strategies and profitable solutions that benefit our local communities and spiral outward is a focal point for many of us.
Currently I am studying to be accredited as a LEED Green Associate in order to assist others in finding their way through an often mindboggling maze of sustainable development, especially as mindsets are evolving into regenerative development.
Greening our homes and businesses results not only rejuvenating the environment, but also growing our bottom line – which inevitably makes us happier and healthier.
May I make two suggestions?
1) Read: Going Local: Creating Self-Reliant Communities in the Global Age by Michael H. Shuman. Proposes a home-grown, community-based economic strategy meant to revive local marketplaces.
2) Applying to Sonoma Green Business Program
Becoming Green - Sonoma County Green Business Program - County of Sonoma, Santa Rosa, CA (https://www.sonoma-county.org/sonomagreen/becoming_green.htm)
Let me know what you think. Take good care!
