Hello. I'm interested in building a small-scale methane digester in order to use for a gas stove. I'm hoping to connect with someone who has done this before and who is willing to show me how.

Please email me at [email protected]

Thanks!
Jeff

i had some neighbors who built & used one. they took a steel drum and filled it with biosolids*. then placed another smaller drum upside down in the larger drum. the bottom of the small drum (pointing up) had a flange embedded to run a hose off of.

the hose ran to their stove, and on that end they had a valve. it output a flammable gas.

* aka, human feces.

that's a small scale example that is obviously smelly to assemble.

a much larger example is the Sonoma Compost site. underneath the 22 acres of crushed concrete that it sits on, there is a large volume of landfill.

that outputs methane, which is run to a turbine facility next door. it generates about 7 megawatts, enough for 2000+ homes in South Sonoma County.
