Buckeye Gathering

May 2-8 this year is the first annual Buckeye Gathering - www.buckeyegathering.net -. It is a weeklong campout with ongoing classes in ancestral arts and primitive skills, held at YaKaAma Indian Education and Development Inc near Forestville, a non-profit in Native American care. We are seeking used wall tents, tipis, etc. for our instructors from afar, as well as possibly erecting redwood or cedar bark tipis to stay on the land. We have one tipi, sans poles. We hope to find a stand of Douglas Fir in Sonoma or nearby counties that is thick enough to produce very uniform young trees of tipi pole size - 3 to 4 inch diameter at the base with very little taper to 1-2 inches at the top. We need to harvest them in the next few weeks in order to cure them enough for the gathering, which is all-ages, very community and family oriented. We need at least 16 poles for the tipi, and would love to get up to 64 more for long term structures on the property.

If you have questions about the gathering, please refer to the website first.
Thanks! The Buckeye Crew
