Austin airplane killer a hero to the radical right

The fatal airplane attack on Austin's IRS building by Joseph Stack is a tragic reminder of how extreme government hatred can end in violence. SPLC has documented 75 domestic terrorist plots, most of which involved radical anti-government views, since Oklahoma City. The Austin attack comes in the midst of an explosive growth of right-wing militias and the larger anti-government "Patriot" movement, which includes thousands of tax protestors. Following the attack, SPLC tracked the elevation of Stack from murderer to hero by white supremacists and others on the radical right, with one saying, "Only bad I see about this is that he didn't kill enough."
