Dear Friends,
I hope this finds you all enjoying the New Year.
Well, I am at it again..... fundraising and training for the upcoming
Go Greenbelt ride, April 23-29. Last year this was not possible for
me as I was deeply involved in helping my wife, Karin, recover from
brain surgery. It's a new year and we are both back strong and ready
to support the very worthy Greenbelt Alliance cause. I did the ride
two years ago and it was absolutely fabulous.
The 480 miles around the mostly gorgeous bay area helped me to
further appreciate the incredible region I live in. I say mostly,
because I saw my fair share of sprawl and ugliness as well. Since 1958
the Greenbelt Alliance has been devoted to preventing sprawl and
preserving farmland and open space. That is why I ride with them and
for them. The area we live in is world class in its natural beauty
and I am dedicated to doing my part to keep it that way. Please check
their website to see specific projects they
are doing. https://greenbelt.org/whatwedo/index.html

I highly recommend that you do the ride, or at least
part of it with me. If that is not a possibility, I would love your
funding support! The Greenbelt Alliance depends on the proceeds from
this event for the bulk of their yearly operating funds. The Alliance
expects to raise $85,000 from the ride this year. My personal goal is
to raise $3000 and with your generous support we can make this happen!
Greenbelt Alliance continues to be the Bay Area's
leading land conservation and urban planning non profit organizations.
Despite the immense beauty and productivity of this area, there are
serious threats. The Alliance recently did a survey of future land use
possibilities, for the 9 bay area counties. It concluded that 490,500
acres (equivalent to 16 San Franciscos!) could be urbanized in the
next 10 to 30 years. It would
double the size of the metropolis and effectively end agriculture
in the region. However, further Greenbelt Alliance research points
to the fact that housing and economic development needs can be met
through using vacant lands in existing cities. There is hope, so
please help by being part of the solution. More and more in my work
with children, I am understanding the absolute necessity of having
wild, open places in our lives. By the way the Alliance leads great
outings throughout the incredible region that I call home.
Donations can be made online or through the mail. The online link
to donate is:

and dont forget to fill my name in the Go Greenbelt! Rider box. If
you choose the snail mail option please include my name along with
your name address and phone number because we want to recognize you!
A donation of $50,$100 or more will go a long way to support Greenbelt
Alliance in their increasingly important work. Their address is as follows:
Greenbelt Alliance
631 Howard St, Suite 301
San Francisco, Ca 94105

I am deeply grateful for your support!
Love,
Andy Bunnell
