Ron Paul is a crackpot.

I thought you were smarter than this, "someguy." Now I know better.

Why don;t you point out what you didn't like about his speech instead of just calling him a crackpot?

BTW, are you so unobservant as to not notice how many other Ron Paul threads I have started in the past? :hmmm: You should have known better along time ago Eddy......

I'm just glad I never thought you were smart, because I'd be saying the same thing about you daily.

Later, "Eddy"..

I have more respect for Ron Paul's message all the time, but facing the very real prospect of hyper-inflation in the near future, it's easy to say let's just eliminate the fed and balance the budget - it has the ring of universal health care promises that never materialize to my ear.

I'm going to be gone this week-end, so I won't be able to respond to this general subject until early next week.

thanks for the good posts, keep em' coming.

I agree that simply ending the fed and balancing the budget would not solve our problems.......as we learned in Zeitgeist, its literally impossible to balance the budget in a fractional reserve system, because money is created out of debt. The real answer is to abolish the monetary system itself. However, as the movie pointed out, in order for that to work, we need a corresponding rise in consciousness as a society. I think if we were to abolish money today, it would never work.

In the meantime, I think the best we can do is push for sensible policies that will give people more liberty. And when people have more individual freedom, they have more ability to free their minds. Freedom of choice allows us to develop critical thinking skills, so absent in our society.

One thing many people don't understand about Ron Paul is that he's not just another politician trying to push his point of view on others. Ron Paul advocates tolerance, individual rights, and state's rights. He's not interested in telling others how to live. Certainly he has a conservative viewpoint himself (he's pro-life, fiscally conservative, non-interventionist, etc.), but he adamantly supports the rights of individual states to adopt whatever policies they want! Isn't that something that we all (liberal, conservative, or anywhere in between) can agree on? To me, that's what sets Ron Paul apart from the rest. I may not agree with every little thing he advocates, but I know a good person when I see one. Ron Paul is open-minded and he boldly speaks the truth in the face of constant ridicule by the mainstream media and his colleagues, and these are the qualities that we all need if we're ever going to thrive in a non-monetary system.

Your support of Ron Paul dovetails perfectly with all of the other positions you take, such a Climate Change "skepticism." Your threads and posts are part of a pattern of right wing ideology that is precisely what this country is struggling against in order to survive.

I've heard Ron Paul's positions on public policy, both foreign and domestic. The only idea he has that I have somewhat of an agreement with him on are the wars on Iraq and Afghanistan. That's it. Don't accuse me again of not knowing his or anyone else's positions. I've done my homework. You still need to do yours.

By the way, I complied with your personal request to me that I not call your position on Climate Change "deniers." I now request that you not call me by names that you know I do not go by, such as "Eddy." I find it offensive just as much as you told me that you find "denial" offensive. I ask that you reciprocate the favor.

Ahh yes, my "right wing ideology" shines through despite my pro-gay marriage, pro-legalization of drugs, pro-legalization of prostitution, my unending support of bringing the troops home, and my deep concern for liberty and social justice and my love for freedom of expression. I guess I'm just like Rush........ But is that really all you got? Unfounded personal attacks, and such little substance?

So since you've done your homework and you disagree with Ron Paul's domestic policy, are you telling me that you disagree with state's rights? To me, that is offensive, especially in California where our state right to grow and possess medical marijuana helps hundreds of thousands of people who otherwise would be subjected to harsh draconian laws.

BTW what I wrote to Clancy you obviously seem to think I directed towards you, I did not. I'm not even sure why we are discussing this, since I never accused you of anything like you claimed. And I can't be held responsible for you reading my posts under the assumption that everything I say is meant in a snarky way.

BTWx2 our country is not struggling against a right wing ideology, we are struggling against neo-liberalism (expansion of government ie: wiretapping, interventionism, nafta, homeland security etc... ) Right? Oh, yeah, you are for big government taking over our state's rights... my bad.
