Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a nice farm with animals to visit that is kid friendly this weekend, preferably in Sebastopol or Santa Rosa. I have some kids ages 5 and 8 coming to visit me from San Francisco and I'd love to show them a bit of farm/ country life. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you! :):

Two suggestions Tara Firma Farms outside of Petaluma. They have piglets right now and chickens and do tours.Delicious food for sale. Check their website-tarafirmafarms.com. And Swallowvalley outside of Freestone. I saw new born lambs today and they have chickens as well(fabulous eggs!). 876-3592. Either place bring rain boots-mud abounds.

Check out McDonaldFarm.com, "A University for Kids, A Sanctuary for Animals" which is run by Linda McDonald. You can check her out on the web site and call to see if she can accommodate your group this weekend. She is a lovely soul, dedicated to teaching children animal husbandry and she has horses, goats, rabbits, dogs and cats... not necessarily in any order!

The Ranch is east of Santa Rosa on St. Helena Road which, in itself, is a bit of an education for a city kid! Wear boots and very warm layers of clothing. Bring something to drink and maybe a snack. The Ranch is mostly on a mountain slope so not much sun comes through to ground level. But I'm sure, if she can accommodate you, you and the children will enjoy the experience... it's very special!
Many Blessings to all of you,

There are lots of options. Grab a Farm Trails map and guide and you'll see plenty to choose from.

Good luck.
