Today my gas dryer stopped heating. It still goes around but no heat. Any ideas?
Its oddly coincidental because in the rain the back of my garage flooded and some water was coming in through the dryer vent and dripping down the back wall onto the floor and we caulked it. We cleaned the vent and duct but nothing.
The valve is on, but I don't know where the gas comes from to check that there isn't a problem in the gas line.
Is there a heating element of some sort that just stops working one day?

It was a used dryer to begin with, but has worked fine. If its too costly to fix, does anyone know where to find a quality used dryer?

A gas dryer doesn't have a heating element. I would open the front and see if you are getting spark to the pilot flame. There are some switches that detect air flow, high temperature, low temperature and spark. Any of these could be bad. I would start with the pilot to see if it is igniting. Before that though, follow your gas line from the back of the heater. If it was installed correctly, there should be a shut off near the dryer or where the gas line penetrates the wall.... You said water was coming out the dryer vent. I would bet the pilot needs help....Good luck!!!
