Hi folks,

Ever since I lost my own orange tabby I've been rescuing the stray orange tabbies that I find during my search. I usually bring them home, rehabilitate them, search for their owner and then find them a good home. This has been working well with only one cat brought to a non-kill rescue facility and 10 - 15 others resting comfortably in good homes.

Last Tuesday I trapped an older cat at the end of Chalk Hill Road. I had been feeding him for weeks but when I got there on Tuesday he looked wet and cold and frightened by the thunder and lightening, so I brought him home. It took him a full 24 hours to come out from under my bed and greet me. When he did there were loud purrs of appreciation.

Since then I've had the chance to really look at him... he loves to be patted. He's older and might need some medical help. He's eating well and his eyes are clear but he's had a rough life out in the wild. He has scars here and there and some kind of lump ( loose in his skin, not an abcess ) that should be checked out. I believe that he was in the wild for a long time ... he just has that appearance.

He's a real sweetie and God knows what he's been through so I'd like to try to save him. Chances are if he is brought to a shelter they will euthanize because he's older with a few problems. He just wants to hang out with a loving person and know that he will be safe, warm and fed. He's no trouble at all compared to the other rescued cats that I've had who were anxious to get out and acting like caged tigers.

Do you have room in your heart, home and wallet for an older guy who could use a kind break in his life? I've been doing this for over a year so my resources are low to non-existent.

Thanks,
Rosanne
