Duplicate Emails

I know some of you are getting duplicate emails, especially of either categories you are signed up for individual emails or of threads that you have posted to.

This is a system problem and I've been trying to solve it for weeks! I think I'm getting closer. Please be patient. I will get it fixed!

I do not get any emails from waccobb.net. I read it all online. (A method I persist in recommending to anyone with a decent connection speed.)

But I've noticed some people double posting their announcements on the website. I'm sure you and everyone else have noticed as well.

My assumption is that they're double-clicking on the "Post" button and that results in a duplicate message.

(As an experiment I am going to double click on the "Submit Reply" button when I send/complete this message. Well, that didn't do it!)

Could this be contributing to the duplicate email problem?

Yes, there are dupe postings from time to time. I'm assuming its from people not realizing that they have posted and then trying again. I can't replicate posting a post twice by just double-clicking the the submit/post button. Let me know if you can. You are welcome to test this in the Testing category. I wouldn't be surprised that it is possible with just the right amount of delay between clicks.

When there duplicate postings, that surely exacerbates the problem, but its not the cause of the problem. It frequently happens when there is only one post.

And PHP/mySQL pros out there wanna be a hero and nail this one for us?

Yes, I think a party is in order! However my schedule is tight for the next couple of weeks. I'm going to try to arrange for a semi-hosted gathering at the Hopmonk sometime soon. :toast:

It seems I spoke too soon. Dupes have re-appeared this evening. :pullshair: How odd! At least I think I know where they are coming from. Its a bit of a timing issue. So I'm hoping I'll have it fixed soon!:crossfingers:
