Alternative Energy (China)

The world's largest solar-powered building have been built in China, precisely in the area of Dezhou, Shangdong Province, northwest of China. This magnificent office building known as the Sun and the Moon Altar micro-row buildings will serve 95 percent of energy needs for the building itself.

The building have area of 75,000-square-meter and equipped by 5000 square meter of solar panel array that located on the building complex.

The building that have architecture of Chinese characters for sun and moon only use 1% of steel to the Bird’s nest with the roof and wall insulation system that consume 30% less energy than the national energy saving standard.

To show the impression of clean energy and green, the building exterior has been painted with white color of the entire building so that the impression of green would look at the entire building complex.

The office building have modelled after the sun dial structure and has a complete facilities that is supported by green energy. It has facilities such as space for exhibition centers, scientific research facilities, meeting and training facilities and a sustainable hotel also equipped with the solar hot water, a solar desalination plant and a solar energy theme park.

This building is planned to be exhibited to the world through the 4th World Solar City Congress and as the pioneering of the solar energy building's and power-saving technologies, a few already patented, include a number of technical advancements that will push forward the mass application of solar energy.

Dezhou is a city in China is worth mentioning as the solar city because almost 5.5 million people that living in this city have used the solar hot water systems. In addition the use of solar energy in this city have also been used in various fields such as for the street lamps to the tourist cars.

The statistics by Greenpeace also shows about 800,000 people in Dezhou had jobs in the solar panel industry in 2007 and and predicted about 1,500,000 people by 2020.

This China's new breakthrough is expected to improve the predicate of China's as the most polluted countries in the world.
