perhaps a million times more than in those plastic bottles we are avoiding. this is really serious and scary. just pick up the receipt, rub your eyes, extraordinary exposure. and unlike plastic, the BPA in the papers is not chemically bound. read the entire article and then the comments. It is being researched in Europe. Then call your congress people - not that they always listen (hah!) - this is referring to thermal receipts - like at the gas station, and many stores.</http:>

so, what can you do, except
A/ do no chew your receipts
B/ keep them out of the reach of children & pets
C/ do not put them in the compost pile.

makes me think if have a bunch of receipts to throw away, i should take them to the toxic materials drop off (at the land-fill off Meacham road) next time i drop off some CFL bulbs.

Very interesting article and certainly cause for further investigation but inconclusive as to whether it's capable of effective absorption into the human system, not that I want to bet it doesn't.

If these get burned, composted or recycled, the BPA gets into the ecosystem which is a much bigger problem.
