Any suggestions for good dinner in Occidental that is not a big plate of spaghetti?

Going out for the crafts fair and Occ. Choir and may stay for dinner.
Thanks!

The Bistro des Copains is delicious!... but you may need a reservation.

An absolutely resounding second opinion on the Bistro Des Copains... one of the best culinary experiences I've had in Sonoma county, consistently and enjoyably.

Bistro des Copains is great. The rose wine from Les Baux de Provence was served in a pichet just as I remember from my days as a student in France. I ordered pizza, which was excellent, but the rest of the menu looked good too-not many restaurants serve rabbit, which is classic French bistro fare.

I sure got a lot of recommendations for Bistro des Copains. I checked the web site and it looked a little pricey but a good candidate to try another time.

We ended up at the Union Hotel where I had a delicious spinach salad which came with soup and bread. Just right. It was fun spending the day in Occidental (all the way from Sebastopol). We did the crafts fair, Choir concert, drinks and dinner. Supporting the local economy!

Take a fifteen minute drive over to Guerneville and eat at Boon - lovely food, nice atmosphere, very responsive owners. The truffle fries will cure cancer - don't miss them. You can stick a pin in the menu and go home happy. Worth the drive.

I experienced those very truffle fries as too salty to be eaten by either myself or my companion, and we had ventured over specifically to try them. You see, the truffle flavoring comes from the salt blended with tiny shavings of, I assume, dried truffle. I could taste nothing beyond the salt and was very disappointed as I have yet to experience that flavor. There was a dish of brusselles sprouts which had potential and then they appeared just swimming in oil. I was told it was mainly lemon juice but I was not convinced. Just had to respond to your post as my experience was so different from yours.
