If you've never been to Safari West (check them out at www.safariwest.org), there's a great reason to visit now. If you have fruit--especially grapes, persimmons, pomegranates and figs--that are too ripe or otherwise will not be used, drop them by the office at Safari West. The birds in Safari West's care love these fruits. Tell the office person that you are there with holiday fruit and someone will come out to thank you and walk you over to see the lemurs and giraffes.

You have may have heard that Gijimi, one of the cheetah sisters, has been ill. It's true. She had swine flu but she is all better now. Dropping by fruit is a great well to let them know you're happy about her recovery.
