29 years ago, he was taken from us on this day by violence.

He used his many resources to try to stop violence.

It warms my heart to hear many young folks continue to share how much they love his music, and how "Imagine" is their all time favorite song. That many generations are touched by his anti-war music gives me real hope!

To honor John Lennon, his work and vision to create peace, please take some action today to end the US led unconstitutional wars. If that's not your scale, how can you bring peace to your community, street, or home?

Great DVD of "US vs John Lennon":

Here's some ideas from my Daily Kos diary:

Please share yours.

Note that in Iraq as of last month, an average 3 civilian casualties per day was a record low body count. This is not "winning", or "victory", and nothing will change, unless enough of us demand a change of course. I don't think it matters that much to the people we kill, if it is by combat force or air-strike drone, we are fueling their violence with ours; and due to local gov budget cuts in public safety services, we are less safe at home.

If you are not sure about taking action, ask yourself, what would Lennon do?

I think he'd agree with the call for a cease fire.

In peace,

Why do we kill people who kill people to show that killing people is wrong?

32 people were killed, and 12 people injured on the 1st of December, when a mosque was bombed in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the mosque bombing.

Perhaps if we gathered a petition, signed by lots of college students, and other peace-loving citizens, and had it published in Pakistani newspapers, and sent John Lennon's music, which we would pay to have played on local radio stations there, the Taliban, who profess to be very religious, would see the error of their ways, and renounce violence. Perhaps also, they'd decide not to protect & promote Al Qaeda training camps, and close madrassas where "death to infidels" is on the curriculum.

That might work. What do you think?

I think your heart is in the right place. That being said, I also think it is naive to think that a petition signed by peace loving Americans accompanied by our beloved John Lennon's music would be anything more than assuaging our own despair at the tragedies of violence than anything else. And I supposed that is not a bad thing.......putting good intentions out there can only help, energetically, but the Taliban machine is much more impenetrable than that.

Your post speaks loud for hope, though, and I thank you for it.
