4. Over 2/3 of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal, whose births were paid for by taxpayers.
5. Nearly 35% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.

Madam speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to put a Windfall Tax on all stock market profits (including Retirement fund, 401K and Mutual Funds! Alas, it is true - all to help the 12 Million Illegal Immigrants and other unemployed Minorities!
This woman is frightening.
She quotes...' We need to work toward the goal of equalizing income, (didn't Marx say something like this?), in our country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich can invest.' (I am not rich, are you?)
When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent, she replied:
'We need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long way to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as 'Americans'.'

i have 3 neighbor families.
2 of them are, or were, "illegal immigrants". in one family the father doesn't speak much English, so we have to rely more on my limited Spanish, or sometimes his daughter translates. he & I take out the garbage, we almost have to race with each other to see who will take out the garbage first. It's just one way that makes him a good neighbor.
One other Hispanic neighbor, Telly, has a landscaping business. He doesn't help us take out the garbage, but given how much he works and his helpfulness with other stuff (he has 2 trucks and a trailer), it's quite allright.
Telly had a party that was very eye-opening. It was partying, illegal immigrant style. Notice it's possible to say that, with respect. He has a HUGE 50 pound copper wok that he cooked up about 30 pounds of pork in. He invited about 10 guys that work for him, and their families, and me. It was interesting to see the social interaction. Telly & one other guy were sort of the "alpha males" in the group. If they would laugh at something, everybody else would laugh, sort of a strange audio reverb effect. One of them poured some Techila out on the ground, on the root of a tree. I said, "Ahora el palo esta borracho" (now the tree is drunk). That got a laugh out of them.
Anyway, that plus watching the proverbial "illegal immigrants" work in the sun & run across a lettuce field with a full box of lettuce - all day long, in 95 degree weather, in the sun where it's more than a hundred degrees ... well, those are the people that PICK OUR VEGETABLES and other food. I find it very hard to be-grudge them anything.
I have had a co-worker whose wife was robbed by 2 Hispanic guys that didn't speak much English. I have also had my car windshield broken by Hispanic guys that didn't speak much English in Palo Alto. Just to say, I have limited understanding of that part of the statistics, to try & put a human face on it.
On balance I feel very lucky to have my current neighbors, even though they are "illegal immigrants". I've lived in California about 34 years, I've had time to meet plenty of my neighbors.
One of the things that I think has hurt California the most is the departure of manufacturing from the state. As far as the prevalence of Hispanic neighbors, I don't think that has hurt the state, on balance.

I'm with you here....I have known an incredible amount of good Hispanic people who may not have come here legally, and some really awful Hispanic people who were born and raised here.
The world is full of people who steadfastly seek out the worst of things to demonstrate their proofs which support their particular contention.
Being raised by a Native American step dad, and experiencing bigotry firsthand starting in the late 40' I'm inclined to shine on peoples alleged 'proofs' which serve only to validate their anti 'whatever' position.
My own experiences are what I've come to trust, and will until the day I die.
The wider the lens I use to view things the better my chances are of staying clear of narrow mindedness.:2cents:

Sadly, what we have let happen to us is the illegal border crossing of corporations that exploit labor and natural resources, destroying local economies for one purpose, money.
There are no illegal aliens only human beings trying to have a decent life for their families.

i used to have an outdoor cat. it showed up on my patio in a bedraggled state, missing a left upper canine tooth or whatever they're called.
(i'm allergic to cats)
anyway, after taking care of it for about 6 months - it completely disappeared. because there were some homeless encampments nearby - this is in Southern California, these encampments were Hispanic folks - i can't help but wonder if my kitty became dinner.

uhhhhhhh....who is PAYING these people the cash? Uh, who is hiring them to...mow their lawns, blow their leaves away, clean their pools, clean their houses, babysit their kids, detail their cars, roof their houses, bus their dishes. I gotta laugh at this complaint, cuz if people didn't hire all these illegals (because they get such a great 'deal' ie cheap work), the problem might not exist to the degree it does. Not saying it's good or bad, but it's pretty plain. Just like----how many who complain about the illegals and drugs....."partake" themselves? duhhhhhhhh.

Another possibility is that they took compassion on the kitty. I've seen stranger things than that.
I've seen a mentally ill man who didn't have enough to eat himself, give his own bit of food, or a blanket or a jacket. Many people would be shocked at the compassion of those who have so little.
I was taken in as a child by a Latino family, who were in survival themselves, but wanted to rescue me from an abusive father.
Whatever your background is, unless Native American, your family of origin was alien to this country.
Compassion and gratitude could create another perspective.
There may be a future time when you'll seek refuge in another country for
any number of reasons. If your familiy's survival depended on escaping this country, wouldn't you try? I know it's hard to imagine ourselves walking in someone elses shoes; being the mother separated from her children; or the father separated from his family.
The disgrace and heartbreak of being born on the wrong side of the fence.....is something we can't feel.

More to the point, would you consider taking a look at your own turn of mind?that group of homeless people were my neighbors for 9 years. i saw them at 7-11, occasionally walked through their camps, and also once hired them.
we're talking about a group of people, a percentage of whom are REALLY HUNGRY because they don't have money for dinner - or anything. there is no Spanish language version of "Edible Plants near San Diego Highways" for them to read. Meals for Wheels does not visit their address. Their food options are limited.
they could dig for earthworms.
they could try & catch a large wild crow, and cook it.
in some situations, a cat is the most easily caught food object around.
since we're talking about my cat, i don't celebrate its potential demise as Kitty Barbecue. just acknowledging that it's quite possible.
some of you seem to think there's something horribly judgmental about saying that homeless, hungry Hispanic people might catch, kill, and eat a stray cat.
