This summer I met a woman at Julliard Park who had two beautiful long-haired dachshunds with delightfully gentle personalities. She mentioned a woman in Sebastopol who raised them. Her name is Michelle Randall but I can no longer find her web site or other contact information. Does anyone know her or know if she is still raising dachshunds (full size, not miniatures)? Are there other local (and respectable) breeders? I have a friend who is considering the breed, as am I if I can convince my cat it is an acceptable idea. I am also checking the rescue sites but there do not seem to be any within a reasonable distance. Thanks much for any information or referrals.
And please, don't lecture about breeders or the need to adopt shelter animals. I understand this and am in sympathy with it. One of the reasons we are looking for a local breeder is so we can see the environment and the practices first hand. But neither my friends nor I are looking for dogs. We are exploring this particular breed for several specific reasons.
