Violence Bigotry and social activism [Archive]

So, not my usual style, but I read the following posts in the yahoo wacco group, and was moved. I've called the Days Inn, and gotten a pretty non specific run around, I told them I'd post my impressions in an hour or so, to give their manager time to contact me with a statement.

What do you all think of this?:

If you are familiar with Buju Banton or the song "Boom Bye Bye" advocating for the killing of GLBT people, you will be very displeased to find out that the Days Inn in Santa Rosa has invited him to perform. Eureka just cancelled his concert, along with at least 14 other cities on his American Tour.

Please take a moment to call the Days Inn to voice your concern about their
choice of performer. See the email below for details.

Is anyone interested/free on Wednesday, October 14th, if the concert goes on, to attend the protest? I will most likely be attending, if we have to protest.

Subject: buju banton -- guess where! Santa Rosa!

I'm really upset. I logged onto our alt weekly paper's website and see as top pick for the week the Buju Banton concert on Weds, Oct. 14. He's the reggae musician who wrote and performs Boom Bye Bye about killing gay people, recommending a Uzi or throwing acid in our faces.

I complained strongly to the Bohemian and they may pull the top pick.
If you have a moment, please pick up the phone and call the Days Inn, 3345 Santa Rosa Ave.,Santa Rosa, to protest the concert, telling them we're organizing a protest at the concert on Weds. Phone is 707-568-1011.

It doesn't matter where you're calling from or if you're in the area, lodge a protest now. I have a call into the owner, with the message that this character is responsible for people being killed around the world and that we'll be in the streets if this show happens.

Calling now will give me backup. If they won't scrub the concert, I'll be back to gear up for a protest. Eureka just cancelled their concert as has LA, and Banton is scrambling to schedule concerts. At least 15 shows have been cancelled on his current American tour. Let's add Santa Rosa to the list!
