I don't know what's "local" for you, but you can find lots of good produce and flowers behind most grocery stores. The times vary, but usually late morning and early afternoon.
I found a bin full of bouquets of flowers tonight, and passed them out to my neighbors. I've picked up 5 watermelons, 10 cantalopes, tomatoes, potatoes,
avocados, packed salads, spinach, apples, plums, peaches, nectarines.
If there's a grocery store close to you, just cruise by a couple of times a day, to see when the produce is put out, but watch out for the pig farmer. (He doesn't like to share with humans, only his pigs.)
