Hi Geeks.. I need a Geek buddy. Windows Installer keeps popping up and runs for a long time. I installed the latest version 4.5 and nada. I'm running XP on a 3 year old computer.

I installed and ran the Windows Installer Clean Up program and nada except it wiped out all my Windows Office applications!@ and the dang Windows Installer window keeps popping up. I run Registry Booster every time I boot and have run that app for a couple years.

I've searched the web and Microsoft but can't find any other possible solutions. I find lots of posts where others have experienced this problem...so I'm wondering if anyone here in WaccoWorld has a thought.

Many thanks!
Suzanne

First - I don't know the specific cause of your problem, sorry. But, if it was happening to me, this is what I'd do.

Your computer is three years old - you didn't mention, are you running a 3-year-old copy of XP? Three years is a lifetime for computers & software. 'Twere I, I'd back up all data, reformat the hard drive (or get a new one - the one you've got's been cranking for a long time), and reinstall everything.

It sounds like you may have a dll file or other OS file which has become corrupted. Perhaps not corrupted enough to halt operation completely, but just enough to gag the OS.

Good luck with it.
