As you may have noticed, there's a new 3 Story building going up in downtown Sebastopol. I was rather taken aback at first, partially from the shock of seeing a 3-story building (OMG! Are there others?) and partially because it came as a surprise. I imagine this came before the design review board if not the city council, but I don't recall hearing about that.

What do you guys think about this? The design isn't bad, but not as interesting as the building it "remodeled" (replaced). It's not all that imposing being that only the middle section is 3 stories and its situated at a large intersection.

so long as the design is nice and considers the buildings around it, I would rather see Sebastopol going up than spreading out!

It's big but unfinished so we don't know from these photos how the finished product will look. It certainly can't be more ugly than the "green" building occupied by Peter Lowells. Architectural beauty does appear to be a priority with our planning dept.

Gosh, Barry - that post sounded almost trollish:):.
Owners put new landscaping, tried new paint, but some buildings just dont last forever! It went through every committee/department it needed to and was talked about for several months. If you knew the owners, architect, renters, etc. (and you do) you would know this is going to be one of the loveliest places to visit in town. Don't judge a building by its plywood!

To me I find it very unobtrusive. I barely notice it most of the time except for the construction work. Maybe they can put a pyramid or somthing on top so we can have a landmark.
