Ok, I know this is desperate. We are in trouble. We are dead broke - as in paying rent is a struggle. The car just broke down, I think it might be the transmission. I work an hours drive away in Napa, and I work all sorts of strange hours, including some overnight.
I need access to a car by tomorrow at noon to get me to work. If anyone has an extra car somewhere, or knows someone with an extra car, even a clunker, we will be willing to set some kind of daily rental fee.
I cant hitch a ride - there are few people on each shift, and the people there mostly live in Napa.
I cant relie on public transportation - since I work overnights i have to get there, or get home at some funky hours. I cant rent a car from car rental companies - 1. its too expensive and 2. they dont take debit cards.
Any help that can be extended will be deeply appreciated.
Thanks,
Malene

Dear Malene,
I can not help you with a car, wish I could. However, you can call 211 on your phone, they are a resource for all local agencies that can offer assistance in a time of crisis. You might already know about this service, many people don't. Since you have a job, good for you, there might be agencies that will help you get your car fixed. Good luck.
Nancy

Thank you to all of you that helped, prayed or offered support. I think some prayers were heard.
It ended up not being the transmission, but the ignition. An amazing group of people took up collections so we can pay for the car. We should have it back tomorrow.
Again, thank you so much. All the prayers, thoughts and offers to help will not be forgotten.

Advice from the no money crowd, you find somewhere, some shelter, and you live in Napa near where you work. Go to a church close to where your work is, and get mad if you have to but they must help you, I don't deal in Napa but there are shelters and if you have a job and no car you must live near your job...simple...stay there till you make the money to help yourself...an hours commute is a stupid formula...so live there or get work closer to where you live...
