I sure miss Nepal. I`ve got a lot of friends there and they all have a very special place in my heart .Even though it`s only been two years since I was last there, I still miss it as much as I miss anything. If I knew when my last year was going to be that`s where I`d want to spend it, that`s where I`d like to die. Any of you Wacco people ever get over there?

Anyway, I just got an email from my friend, part of which I`d like to share. There is a lunar eclipse over there on Wednesday and the government has declared it a national holiday. It was declared by, get this, the "Panchanga Decision Committee", the government body to suggest on the official calendar and astrological issues.

I just thought that was pretty cool

Solar eclipse Wednesday morning, public holiday announced
Kantipur Report
KATHMANDU, July 21 - The government has declared public holiday on Wednesday, when the longest total solar eclipse of the century takes place.
The Home Ministry, in a press release, said holiday has been declared in offices nationwide and diplomatic missions stationed worldwide.
The decision has been made as per the request of Panchanga Decision Committee, the government body to suggest on the official calendar and astrological issues.
On Wednesday morning, a rare celestial drama will unfold on the eastern skies with the moon blocking the sun for about four minutes. This can be seen from 14 eastern districts.

The last total eclipse seen from Nepal was on Jan. 22, 1898 and the next one will occur on May 14, 2124 only.
Meanwhile, special arrangements have been made at three places -- Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) premises in Khumaltar, the Kathmandu Mall by B.P. Koirala Memorial Planetarium, Observatory and Science Museum Development Board, and Takshashila Academy in Baluwatar -- in the Kathmandu Valley to chase the eclipse.
Since the observation with naked eyes may damage eyesight, some precautions and protective measures should be followed to observe the eclipse, or see the sun's reflected image.
