second only to the despicable war criminals from the last administration.

We don't have an opposition party, we now have the greatest propaganda machine in the history of the world, cleverly maintaining the illusion of a two party system. At least the Germans and the Soviets knew that everything their government said was propaganda, most Americans don't have a clue.

Now that democrats have total control, a filibuster proof 'super majority', watch and see if we get universal health care or any of the other liberal bait dangled in front of us every election cycle.

What you CAN count on is that corporate America will continue it's vicious oil colonialism in Afghanistan and Iraq, soon to be also in Somalia, Iran and Venezuela, using our military as muscle, and that America, with 6% of the world's population, will continue to consume 50% of it's resources.

While apolitical wacco 'progressives' have been navel gazing and 'envisioning' wealth, the perfect lover and world peace, our government has been hijacked by Wall St and the banksters, our treasury gutted and the very future of our nation put in grave doubt, and we the people aren't going to do a thing about it.

There will be no revolution in America, just a slow dissolution, that will likely become even more chaotically violent than we see today, as people get hungry and work gets harder to find and real pay (adjusted for inflation) freefalls.

You can make fun of me, but as the next few years go by, ask yourself: now that the democrats can literally pass any legislation they want, why is there no real change?

No one is above the law, and it's criminal that the democrats are not prosecuting the Bush administration for war crimes.

Army General Accuses White House of War Crimes

The two-star general who led an Army investigation into the horrific detainee abuse at Abu Ghraib has accused the Bush administration of war crimes and is calling for accountability.

In his 2004 report on Abu Ghraib, then-Major General Anthony Taguba concluded that "numerous incidents of sadistic, blatant, and wanton criminal abuses were..."systemic and illegal." And, as Seymour M. Hersh reported in the New Yorker, he was rewarded for his honesty by being forced into retirement.

Now, in a preface to a Physicians for Human Rights report based on medical examinations of former detainees, Taguba adds an epilogue to his own investigation.

The new report, he writes, "tells the largely untold human story of what happened to detainees in our custody when the Commander-in-Chief and those under him authorized a systematic regime of torture. This story is not only written in words: It is scrawled for the rest of these individual's lives on their bodies and minds. Our national honor is stained by the indignity and inhumane treatment these men received from their captors.

"The profiles of these detainees, none of whom were ever charged with a crime or told why they were detained, are tragic and brutal rebuttals to those who claim that torture is ever justified. Through the experiences of these men in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo Bay, we can see the full-scope of the damage this illegal and unsound policy has inflicted --both on America's institutions and our nation's founding values, which the military, intelligence services, and our justice system are duty-bound to defend.

"In order for these individuals to suffer the wanton cruelty to which they were subjected, a government policy was promulgated to the field whereby the Geneva Conventions and the Uniform Code of Military Justice were disregarded. The UN Convention Against Torture was indiscriminately ignored. . . .

"After years of disclosures by government investigations, media accounts, and reports from human rights organizations, there is no longer any doubt as to whether the current administration has committed war crimes. The only question that remains to be answered is whether those who ordered the use of torture will be held to account."

Since both parties are inextricably entwined, truly serious damage to one will be a threat to the other. The true opposition is we the people but since most don't understand that we have this impasse.

The latency in this video is a bit annoying but one of the country's top trends analysts starts talking about this about two and a half minutes into it. He is now predicting the rise of a serious third party as a reaction to both parties continuing the current path to oblivion. Then it remains to be seen if a third party can really make a change or if it will be co-opted by the same forces that have brought us to the current state of affairs.

That's a riveting clip, thank you. It's especially chilling in light of the myriad commercial vacancies I see all over Santa Rosa. I also appreciated his perspective on where the jobs of the future will be.

The clip was interesting if only because it is a modified repeat of the last 40 years worth of fear mongering.
White flight...'ghetto uprisings are in the making and we're all in danger we gotta ,move to the suburbs'.
Gun fright: 'they're going to take away our guns let's form a militia'.
White fright: 'oh my gawd there's one of 'em in the white house better brace ourselves for what's coming next'.
Meanwhile guns and ammo go flying off the shelves as never before.
Class fright: 'the rich are out to destroy or enslave the poor.'
Can you point me to a time when the rich didn't do this ??
And now this guy telling us 'hard times are a coming and all the above is going to happen'...he left out flesh eating bacteria ...so I think his shirking his duty at terrifying us good and proper.
The only thing that is real here is that there are going to be some difficult times ahead for people all over the world.
Calling people traitors because they have been doing what everyone seems to be doing when afraid ...'covering their own asses' is absurd.
Never has there been a party with integrity, and never shall one exist.
Power corrupts as it always has, and as it no doubt always will.
My job is to try to the best I can with my life.
Paying attention to what happens at a state and federal level is well and good. Voting and trying to bring about policy and social changes is a good thing. However the most anyone can ever hope for will be incremental changes.
Prepare for the worse, hope for the best, and don't let fear take over your lives. Fear manifested as outrage, contempt, blame, is still fear and isof itself a corroding evil ! I refuse to participate, or support in any form of fear mongering.
Systems and economies are constantly in flux.
Sometimes we get to live high, and other times we have to live a lot more simpler. Either way it's a blessing that we are still living, learning, and doing the best we can in the face of whatever comes our way.

As the old saying goes, "The more things change, the more they remain the same."

Anyone waiting for great leaders to save us will be waiting a long time. Best to focus on what we can do right here with what we have.
