Just do it. Inspiration, history and storytelling at its' best. It will lead you to his other books, which The Open Veins of Latin America, 5 pages at a time. Small doses of historical ingots pardon the spanish subjugation references but, a man's life worth 6 ounces of pepper. Don't forget , how lucky we are. My biggest feeling here is help indigenous peoples wherever they are to protect their land and liberty from corporate interests. Latin America funded much of European development Galeano makes a strong point. Let us make note and take heed. The health of the giant forests of the Amazon and the peoples there, tres important. Galeano is a master. I will never tire of my first love, Pablo Neruda, or Rumi, my Sufi master, but Galeano is winning me over book by book, story by story. Imagine 200 thousand canoes and kayaks transporting goods up the avenues of Tenochitlan, avenues of water. Let us return to the natural way of things.
