I'm taking up babaruss's suggestion and starting a new thread along the lines I posted on previously..to quote from Keeping WACCO Safe:
"Those who are following the State's situation understand that life as we know it will be changing drastically in the very near future - support nets and services will totally disappear. If individuals know of support services or other forms of community support available they could post in that category. We may all become more dependant on community instead of government so this could be a way of addressing needs."
I'll start with an obscure group that loans money for educational needs (Cal Grants may be eliminated entirely starting in July) and you don't need to be Jewish to apply:

The closest office is in San Francisco.
I'm sure everyone knows of other potential resources....I do too but need to sit down and do more research. So feel free to add your own ideas.

Glad you took the chance to start this thread lifequest.
My needs become smaller and smaller the older I get.
But still I do (as a senior on a severely restricted income)
need to find ways to make ends meet.
PG&E has a program which reduces rates to those households
who fall under certain income guidelines.
The phone company also has a similar program.
Any county social service agency can send information for emergency
crisis needs...power about to be shut off...need money for last month rent and security deposit...food sources etc.
I (when feeling up to it physically) volunteer at local food distribution centers, and as a volunteer, can generally pick out things I need over and above what is going to general population.
The category following this one offers a way to reduce garbage bills, and recycle your own trash. Very helpful information to people who have never composted, nor grown their own food.
My small contribution here is a scatter gun approach as I have no idea who needs to hear what in the way of survival information.
Since I take in people in recovery here at my little cabin, and some of these people have zip in the way of resources, I collect and recycle redeemable cans and bottles. The recipient of this current collection will get her hair colored and trimmed. Which will boost self esteem and may make her feel a bit more presentable for job search.
So far that little resource has taken care of a great many of my housemates small personal needs..needs for which I do not have the ready cash.
People in my community who know me (and my tiny little clunker) toss bottles and cans in where ever they see it parked.
Community gardens are always important..both for producing good healthy food and as a survival teaching tool. We need a hell of a lot more of them.
We just don't can/dry/preserve foods like we did when I was a dirt poor kid growing up.
Maybe this is enough of a contribution from me.
Looking forward to learning about other means of survival....beyond the basic stuff I've just now tossed into the mix.

Unfortunately, a loan from jfla.org requires you to be a resident of one of the Southern California counties. I followed up on a northern Calif source, Hebrew Free Loan Association (https://www.hflasf.org/), but they require that you be Jewish. That leaves us out, but thanks for getting this started!

Maybe we should determine if there is enough money/sponsorship locally for the development of micro loans such as are offered in other third world countries.
O.K...o.k..we are not third world yet, but many people here are on the brink of poverty (if not there already) and a community based program of that sort could prove viable. The only requirement could be that the loan recipient has a viable plan for the money borrowed.

This may be more for armchair contributors than for organizing, but it gives some ideas for what is possible:
Charity Navigator - America's Largest Charity Evaluator | Home (https://www.charitynavigator.org/)
I did a little looking around, and you can filter by region:
Charity Navigator - Your Search Results (https://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.results&scopeid=4&overallrtg=4) (Filter by state in lefthand column)
Charity Navigator - Your Search Results (https://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.results&scopeid=4&overallrtg=4&stid=13) (CA)
