Someone to help me choose blogging provider

Hey there. I'm a novice blogger but I like the medium. Right now, I have a blog at blogger.com and...it's OK. but everyone is telling me to go to wordpress or typepad. I have my own website but really don't know how to move from where I am or the pros and cons. Can someone help me without charging me an arm and a leg. I can trade services. I'm not only an experienced consultant but a licensed contractor and accomplished remodeler.

If you're a Sonic.net customer, you can get a free domain & hosting & blogging software (we use Wordpress). Good stuff if you want to do a personal, family or small business blog. FYI.
