Thanks to all who responded with interest to my last post or came to see the GleanEnergy project, and to all those who are just taking a look, here's a refresher.

I have designed and prototyped a simple mechanism with one-way valves to glean a small amount of energy from pedestrian activity, and to apply it to raising water to a height of ten feet or so.

My current goal is to build a ten foot square dance floor to be in action at the Maker Faire which takes place May 30 &31 at the San Mateo Fairgrounds. Be there!

(Actually the 'active' component is the people dancing on the floor, so perhaps it is more accurate to say that the floor will be in 'passion'.{ see T.S.Eliot,"Murder in the Cathedral}.) Sorry. I get wordy!

Anyway, based on tests and numbers, I am pretty sure we can raise a gallon of water per second, which would be satisfactory in itself, and, if time permits, run it through a mini-hydro generator and get some electricity.

So the dance floor involves 800 little valve mechanisms. I have set up a fabrication and assembly line in my back yard, so if this sounds like fun to you, give me a call and, starting this weekend, I'd love to have a bunch of folks around doing stuff, until this gets done. Call me at 827-3404 or 479-1570.

If you just want to come round and talk, that's fine, should be fun, but that conversation will likely be with someone other than me. I'm gonna be fiercely focused on production and quality control.
