View Full Version : Lost my job
No one would talk with me today. I was told to come back at 12:30 so they could fire me at their convenience. It doesn't matter which business did this, that isn't my point of talking about it. I guess I just feel a bit sad and I'm wondering what's next.

I like that you had it in ya to 'put it out there'... I would say a few different things, and will:
What an interesting opportunity to splash a little cold (ionized) water of the other-than-job world into your scene.
You can drop back a pace, quiet the internal chatter, and watch yourself come up with a wonderful hustle of some sort.
That (certain) number of hours which suddenly became yours will be waiting for instructions.

I've experienced every job loss, whether being fired or having quit (the latter being admittedly better but you can't always control these things), as an event to celebrate.
I felt liberated and the future opened up with new horizons of possibility.
Granted, given the global financial meltdown that we're riding at this time, things are scary. But for now I would enjoy your new found freedom for a minute.
Then get back to weighing your options and restarting the scramble for money.
Going back to school, even if one has to go into debt to finance it, is a pretty good mid-term option these days...
With the inevitable inflation that will result from the massive deficit spending going on, debt is probably the best investment out there at the moment. Whatever you owe will be worth less in the future. So you'll be paying back less then, than you owe now.
Good Luck, Stay Cool, Be Strong!
