Anyone out there using Vonage or a similar internet-based phone service? What do you think? I currently have SBC for local calling, Working Assets for long distance, a calling card that we use for most long distance, and 2 cell phones that we use at night and on weekends when it's free. I'd love to have one service and use our regular phone all the time.

Thanks!
Suzy

Can you use SKYPE for local calls as well? How long have you used SKYPE? How much money do you save per month??

Yes

> How long have you used SKYPE?

I first became aware of it last July after seeing this article in Business Week

Don't know exactly. My brother and I use it a few times a week when we play chess online. We're sometimes on Skype for an hour at a time, which if not on Skype would be a toll call.

I use Packet 8 (https://www.packet8.net) and it's awsome.

$20/month unlimited calling in the US and VERY cheap international. They provide the little box that contains your permanent phone number (you choose the area code). No-brainer to set up.
