Hey Waccos!
If you haven't yet visited us here At Aubergine Vintage Emporium and Café, we are a large warehouse in Sebastopol with a vintage clothing store on one side and our café and bar on the other. The clothing store has been open for just over a year, and the café has been going for about 5 months now.
This Tuesday, April 28th at 7:00pm, we are going before the Sebastopol city planning commission and asking them to allow us to expand our Bar/Café space and extend our hours of operation. The Meeting will be held at the Sebastopol Youth Annex next door to the community center, and anyone is invited to attend or speak for or against our cause. We would be so blessed if any of you activists out there would be come and support us with your words or just your presence.
There are many reasons why we feel like we should be granted our requests. We are a community based establishment and we truly feel that our success will be a benefit to the people of Sebastopol.
Regarding the extended hours of operation; we are currently allowed to be open until 11pm Sunday through Thursday, and 1am on Friday and Saturday. We are simply asking for the same privilages that our friends and neighbors at the Hopmonk, Jaspers, and The Old Main St. Saloon enjoy. We are also Planning to fill a need of the community by serving food late. We feel that this will not only offer more to the community in terms of a safe and healthy night life, but keep our night owls safer by giving them somewhere to grab a delicious pizza or some hearty mac'n cheese after, say, a night of bar hopping.
Regarding the increased bar and Café space; We are working to create a space where all forms of performance art can be presented and appreciated as comfortably as possible. Our Bar and café space may seem large at first glance, but every time we have an event it is amazing how fast the space seems crowded. At Present our maximum capacity is 284. The reality that we are facing is that our building is enormous, but we are utilizing the space inefficiently. We do not want to cram people up against the wall and eachother any more. We want people to have room to dance, sit, eat, and otherwise enjoy what we are doing.
If you have come by Aubergine and like what we are doing, we would very much appreciate your support at this meeting and in our space. Thank you so Much,
Sincerely,
Brandon Hodson
