Freecycle has problems from the top down. It is pervaded by self-important narcissists and is a very destructive organization. Backchannel discussions are usually filled with fear of invasion by conspiracy and "enemies lists". The originator, Deron Beal is paid by Waste Management.
IF you succeed in contacting him, you will be personally attacked and your name submitted to a discussion group about "moles and rats".
I'd say cut your losses and use Craig's List.
