A particular bill board as he was acclimating to the world of the United States, the end of the second world war, and this ad for an exterminator:
Calmly bear without ado
That which life's imposed on you
But to bedbugs don't resign
Call instead for Rosenstein [the Famous(?) Brooklyn Exterminator]
"don't get into a tizzy over what comes your way and take the actionable items to task"
reminds me a bit of my senility prayer:
God, Grant me the senility,
To forget the things I can't accept,
The slackness to ignore the ones I want
and the apathy to split the difference
(or something like that)
